I thought this bachelor chicken curry was something I thought will be helpful for the newbies and have kept the recipes very simple and have not used any fancy ingredients. There is no blending and grinding work involved.

Bachelor Chicken Curry | Easy Beginner Chicken Curry | Simple Chicken Curry
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken
- 1 onion chopped
- 6 pods garlic
- 2 tbsp red chilli powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- lemon sized tamarind
- oil for cooking
- salt to taste
- few curry leaves
- few kasuri methi/coriander leaves
Instructions
- Heat 3 tbsp oil in kadai. When oil turns hot add 6 crushed garlic cloves and fry. Keep the flame medium.
- Add one sliced onion and few curry leaves. Saute till they turn golden.
- Further, add 1 tsp of ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 to 3 minutes or until the raw smell goes completely.
- Add 1 kg chicken, salt to taste,1 tsp turmeric powder and mix well.
- Cover and cook on medium flame until chicken soft and tender. Do not add any water because water being released from the chicken and allow the chicken to cook in it. It takes around 20 minutes and stir occasionally.
- Open the lid and now add all the spice powders, 2 tbsp red chilli powder, 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tsp cumin powder and 1 tsp garam masala powder. Mix well.
- Add lemon sized tamarind soaked in water and add the required amount of water. Mix well and check the consistency.
- Cover and cook until chicken cooked well. It takes around 15 minutes on medium flame.
- Garnish with kasuri methi/coriander leaves.
- Serve with rice, chapati or paratha.
