The quinoa dosa recipe is the richest healthier variation for breakfast. This quinoa dosa is a great alternative to the usual dosa batter. Quinoa dosa for all those who are carb-conscious and trying to lose weight.

Dosa is one of our favourite breakfasts in our family. When I tried this newer version to convert regular dosa into much healthier dosa with superfood quinoa and got a very good success, everyone in my family loves this dosa equally as the regular dosa.

Why we have to consume quinoa:

Quinoa is called a superfood because of its high protein content, high in iron and magnesium.

  • Quinoa is an excellent source of a plant-based protein. People who following a plant-based diet need to find no animal sources of protein to ensure they are getting enough. So quinoa is the best option for them
  • It is gluten-free and perfect for people with gluten intolerance. 
  • Quinoa has a high fiber content compared with other grains. Diet rich fiber may also promote a healthy weight loss.
  • Its rich source of antioxidants. It helps to reduce heart disease, certain cancer.
  • Helps to meet magnesium, iron requirements.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup ‌Quinoa
  • ¼ cup ‌Urud dal (black gram dal)
  • ‌Salt as per taste
  • ‌Oil for cooking

Instructions

  • Rinse well and soak quinoa and urud dal together for at least 4 -5 hours. ‌Rinse well and grind quinoa and urud dal until smooth.
  • Transfer batter to tall container big enough to hold the batter after fermentation. Close with lid and set aside for 8 hours for fermenting.
  • After 8 hours of fermentation batter will double in quantity. Add salt and mix well.
  • ‌Heat dosa tawa , spread little oil . Take ladleful of batter and spread very thin it on tawa.
  • ‌Drizzle oil and cook until it starts to brown .
  • Serve hot with sambar and chutney

Notes

  • Make sure to rinse quinoa at least 2 to 3 times otherwise it may taste bitter.
  • Quinoa dosa tastes best when it cooked and served immediately.
  • Quinoa dosa is best cooked on medium to low heat so it looks crispy and golden brown.
  • You can store the batter in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
