Milk Powder Peda | Instant Milk Powder Sweets | Milk Peda with a detailed photo and video recipe. Milk peda is one of the most popular Indian sweets which is usually made during festive occasions. Traditionally milk peda is made with milk and sugar but that is very time-consuming. But this is the instant version of milk peda which uses milk powder along with milk and sugar, it takes only 15 to 20 minutes.

There are several flavours and varieties of peda recipe which totally depends upon ingredients added to it. The variation can be made by adding various dry fruits, flavourings like saffron or cardamom powder or rose water and some more ingredients like coconut etc

Traditionally milk peda is made by simmering milk for prolonged hours to obtain the evaporated milk solids known as ‘khova or mawa’. Then it is sweetened and flavoured, making traditional milk peda takes several hours and require attention. Making peda with milk powder is easy, quick and doesn’t take much time. These milk pedas taste super delicious.

Milk peda is one of the most popular Indian sweets which is usually made during festive occasions. Traditionally milk peda is made with milk and sugar but that is very time-consuming. But this is the instant version of milk peda which uses milk powder along with milk and sugar, it takes only 15 to 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup milk powder
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 tbsp ghee

Instructions

  • Firstly, in a thick bottomed pan or a non-stick pan heat 3 tbsp of ghee.
  • Further, add ½ cup of milk and ½ cup of sugar.
  • Stir well until sugar dissolves. Keep the flame on low.
  • Next, add 2 cups of milk powder in batches.
  • Regulate the flame to low and mix milk powder well to make a smooth mixture.
  • Keep stirring constantly and cook on a medium flame. You will see the mixture begins to turn thicker.
  • Further, keep stirring, it becomes thicker and sticky.
  • The mixture thickens and starts to separate from the pan.
  • Turn off the flame and transfer the dough to the bowl and cool down a bit.
  • Now scoop a tbsp of dough and prepare the ball.
  • Prepare a smooth and crack-free ball by greasing ghee to hands.
  • And place pistachios or any dry fruit at the centre and press gently.
  • Finally, instant milk powder peda is ready to serve or refrigerate in an airtight container to store for a week.

Notes

  • Cook the pedas on low flame and use a non-stick kadai or a heavy-based kadai to avoid burning or sticking to the pan.
  • Always grease your hand with ghee before shaping peda. Ghee would help to bring a nice texture to instant milk peda. 
  • Start shopping the peda when the milk solid is still warm. Otherwise, once it cooled down completely it would be difficult to shape them.
  • Overcooking the mixture can make the pedas dense and dry. So take off the mixture from the stove in time.
